During our visit to Kyoto, we decided to have lunch at Boruta based on the positive reviews 🐗 found on Google. The restaurant is hidden in a residential area just a few minutes' walk from Saga Arashiyama Station. The restaurant's name is only vaguely carving on the wall, making it easy to miss. The lunch menu offered 4 options and we both opted for the Japanese Wagyu Steak (Sirloin) set at 6000 yen. We started with the appetiser platter which consisted of three dishes, paprika pumpkin pudding, shiitake tempura and sugar snap peas with garlic, and will be changed in different season. The fusion of Japanese and Western flavours was outstanding, and the pudding was particularly impressive. Its creamy texture paired perfectly with the sweetness of pumpkin and the unique flavour of paprika. The soup was rich with umami taste. We chose the Wagyu Sirloin steak as it offers a perfect balance between buttery fat and tender lean meat that bursts with rich, beefy flavour. The chef grilled it on the teppan to a perfect medium accurately. From its appearance to its taste, this dish showcased his exceptional cooking skills. The dessert was also a real delight and brought you down just right. It was a strawberry cream crepe with catalana. It was visually nice to my liking because the crepe was thin and the filling was vibrant and glistening. It was delicious as expected because all parts were to my palate, not too sweet and the catalana with a rich sweet custard taste without being too egg.Overall, we were impressed with every dish and would recommend this restaurant to anyone hoping to taste Japanese-western teppanyaki in Japan. It's a must-try for those looking for a unique and niche dining experience. 繼續閱讀
