Starting in April, visitors will no longer be allowed to enter private alleyways in Gion, Kyoto's famous geisha district. The increasing number of tourists has become a source of frustration for residents, maikos and other performers who have complained of harassment.

Please be careful not to enter private areas while searching for restaurant locations because you can be fined for trespassing. Instead, please follow the signs that are posted on the public streets.
