Tokyo Ghibli Museum & 12 Kichijoji Editor Picks (Part 2)
2019-05-24
Welcome back to Kichijoji! This is where we continue our journey from the Ghibli Museum in Mitaka to nearby Kichijoji 😋

[Harmonica-cho] →An old shopping street near Kichijoji Central Exit (aka Harmonica Yokocho). A popular local spot with over 100 stores with a old-time "Showa Era" feel.

RestaurantTecchan
Despite having a famous reputation in Japan for having its interior designed by famous architect Kengo Kuma, this yakitori shop has surprisingly reasonable prices. Skewers go from 110 JPY ~ 330 JPY. We also recommmend their simmered motsu, motsuni, is only 450 JPY.

RestaurantAmane
While exploring Harmonica Yokocho, stop by Amane for some standard Japanese street food - Taiyaki. The standard flavor is 150 JPY but also offer different flavors at varying prices. They also serve Mitarashi dango!

RestaurantPiwang
If you're looking for a quite space to eat something hearty, check out Piwan, a small curry shop. Good for couples or solo travellers, this shop only seats 5 customers at a time. We recommend asking for the daily curry or combining two curries for a hearty and delivious meal (1000 JPY~).

RestaurantApron
A mom-and-pop oden shop with homemade flavor. We recommend original picks like Tomato topped with kelp (480 JPY) and Coriander Beef (680 JPY). The salty kelp-based broth pairs well with Japaense sake.

[Near the Station]
RestaurantTsukemen Enji
Popular ramen shop located near Kichijoji station. Be sure to try the "beji-pota tsukemen" (800 JPY). To create this insteresting dish, they simmer vegetable paste in chicken broth for several hours to create a vegetable potage soup. Paired with Japanese  noodles and it becomes tsukemen!

RestaurantOriginal Pancake House
For American-style pancakes from a store that first opened in 1953, try their most popular dish, the Dutch Baby (1,240 JPY) or the second-favorite, Buttermillk Pancakes (770 JPY).
