2024 SAPPORO SNOW FESTIVAL⛄

The Sapporo Snow Festival is a major event that represents Hokkaido. It began in 1950 when local middle and high school students built six snow sculptures in Odori Park. Since then, every year in early February, you can see snow sculptures made with Japanese and Hokkaido culture as motifs, plus sports, movies, manga, anime, games, and other themes. This time, we will introduce winter gourmet food that will warm your mind and body while enjoying the snow festival!


Period: 8 days from February 4th to 11th in 2024

Venue: “Odori venue”, “Tsudome venue”, “Susukino venue”




RestaurantGenghis Khan

A 3 minute walk from Susukino station. This restaurant's specialty is their authentic Genghis Khan, and the lamb meat is known to not only be fresh but very tender and juicy. This restaurant is popular with locals and tourists and has counter and table seats and can accommodate small groups and has a very homely atmosphere. 


They serve Icelandic lamb for 1,100 JPY that is fresh and cut up into pieces after you arrive. Another recommended item is the limited quantity lamb loin for 1,430 JPY that is thick, fresh and delicious and only available while supplies last! In addition to lamb, they serve chicken parsley for 770 JPY, Hamatonbetsu plump scallops 825 JPY and an a la carte menu with items for 440 JPY such as kimchi, edamame, etc.

RestaurantHokkaido Shabu Shabu

Located just a 2-minute walk from Susukino station, this restaurant caters to various group sizes, offering seating for both large and small groups, private rooms, and tables. Their specialty lies in thin slices of lamb, renowned for their soft, melting texture, which pairs perfectly with their secret homemade sauce. The restaurant is also family-friendly, making it an ideal choice for those with children.


They have an all you can eat and drink Hokkai Shabu Shabu hotpot with special lamb and Hokkaido pork (includes vegetables, ramen, etc) for 5,830 JPY. They have an all you can eat and all you can drink course with king crab and 4 types of sashimi for 10,000 JPY (also includes Hokkaido pork, special lamb, etc).

"Oga" has earned its place among Tabelog's TOP5000. It is known for its Hokkaido local cuisine featuring seafood directly sourced from production areas near Hokkaido—sea urchin, squid, spiny lobster, and crab which makes this restaurant a favorite among locals. A 1 minute walk from Tanukikoji station, this Izakaya is a standing bar, with a casual, fun atmosphere that serves a variety of delicious food from live fried food, side dishes, oden, a la carte, etc. They have an assortment of three types of live oysters for 1,210 JPY (raw, grilled, steamed) . On the recommended a la carte menu, they have tar tar salmon boiled egg for 770 JPY and lean tuna with truffle soy sauce for 935 JPY.

Situated just a 5-minute walk from Susukino station. It has a casual place with standing bar seats where you can enjoy fresh ingredients that come directly from the farmers.

 

They have a Garcon variety course for 3,200 JPY with 7 items including 3 types of sashimi, beef tendon stewed tofu, garlic toast, etc plus all-you-can drink. They have another course for 4,200 JPY that includes 8 dishes including assorted sashimi, hokkaido beef tendon stewed tofu, fish, 2 pieces of Zao kogen beef sushi, etc plus all-you-can-drink with 50 types of drinks with a draft beer server at your seat! They also serve Hokkaido raw oysters for 100 JPY.
